SAINT PETERSBURG — 18/03/2017/ MRSWIMY.COM IN St. Petersburg at the walls of the heart of the city — the Peter and Paul fortress, the first in the history of Leningrad-St. Petersburg organized winter swim.
Thus was revived the tradition of winter swimming in the city on the Neva. It is noteworthy that the walls of the fortress assembled members of the club «Neva walruses», who for decades have gathered at the walls of Peter and Paul, sunbathed and swam in the winter.
The tradition of winter swimming restored at a qualitatively new level — now winter swimmers back to St. Petersburg as a full-fledged sport. To fight with the St. Petersburg walrus, who came from Finland, Belarus, Moscow and Petrozavodsk.
The event was well organized and supported by city authorities, the emergencies Ministry, interior Ministry, DOSAAF, the International Association of winter swimming and the Federation of winter swimming of Russia.
A significant contribution to the preparation and holding of the event brought the leadership of the State Museum of history of St. Petersburg .
